Local nonprofit to host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Recovery Junction Recovery Community Center, offering free addiction recovery services to Hudson County residents.

Jersey City – January 12th, 2023. A local community nonprofit, Prevention Links, will be hosting a Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for their Recovery Junction Recovery Community Center on January 26th, 2023 in collaboration with the Mental Health Association of New Jersey. The public is invited to this event to celebrate their opening and learn more about their free services available to Hudson County residents. The event will start at 10am and conclude at 2pm at 35 Journal Square Plaza, Suite 500 in Jersey City.

The grand opening will begin with a networking & information sharing session, followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony with complimentary food & refreshments. Post-ceremony, attendees are encouraged to stay for a naloxone distribution & demonstration, recovery support meeting, games, and more.

“This is our opportunity as a community to come together, talk about recovery, talk about collaboration, and spread the word that recovery is possible..” said Cindymarie Dix, Prevention Links Director of Recovery Community Development. “We have a lot to offer Hudson County and we hope to see all sectors of the community come out to support.”

Recovery Junction Recovery Community Center, operated by nonprofit Prevention Links in partnership with the Mental Health Association of New Jersey (MHANJ), is an inclusive addiction recovery community center created to foster growth and healing through person-centered peer support. Hudson County residents and families can gain access to recovery support services, referrals to treatment, linkages to other community resources, as well as social, educational, and workforce training opportunities, all free of charge.  Many staff began as participants in their programs and have been trained as Peer Recovery Specialists, using their training and lived experience of addiction & recovery to offer support to individuals who visit the Center.

“We’re so excited to be able to offer these free services to the Hudson County Community, in part because we know the need exists here…” said Morgan Thompson, Prevention Links CEO. “The latest data shows us that almost 65% of Hudson County residents in need of treatment never get it . I know that together, we can help bridge that gap by getting people connected to treatment while providing alternative services which offer stability, hope, & community.”

Prevention Links is a local community non-profit with over 50 years of experience in preventing addiction, supporting recovery, and strengthening families across the Northeastern region of New Jersey. With community being defined as any environment where people live, work, or learn, the goal of Prevention Links is to pull together all available resources to eliminate the deleterious effects of drugs, alcohol, violence, and inadequate educational and health institutions in our communities. Their mission is to foster healthy sustainable communities by empowering people through education, collaboration and by serving as the linkage to resources.

Recovery Junction Recovery Community Center services are made possible through grants provided by the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Individuals who plan to attend should contact Rodney Feaster, Senior Peer Services Coordinator, at rfeaster@preventionlinks.org or by calling the Center at 551-220-1150.
