Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Our Commitment

At Prevention Links, diversity, equity, and inclusion are foundational to the work we do.

The heart of our mission is to shape healthier, stronger communities. We recognize the rich diversity of the communities we serve and reflect it: in our services, our staff, and our management. Through our work, we have seen the negative impact that inequities and overall lack of inclusivity have on our communities. We acknowledge this ongoing injustice individuals face in their everyday lives and we commit to actively fostering change.

We are committed to providing an environment where all people feel included and safe, no matter their age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and more.

Staff from all divisions of the organization have come together and formed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee to make sure that we’re maintaining a genuinely diverse culture and continuing to improve. The DEI committee hears the concerns of employees and community members. Our mission is to make effective change in the way things are handled across the organization in order to allow employees to fulfill their full potential and integrate their views, beliefs & values into the work they do in our communities.

The world is adapting and evolving and so are we.

Prevention Links’ commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is embodied in four core values:

Education. We invest in our staff and volunteers by providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to be effective service providers for everyone that engages with our organization. The education we provide to our communities encourages them to be the link to the brighter future we hope for.

Communication. We are committed to transparency and an open flow of information both with our staff and with our community.

Safe Spaces. We constantly strive to create a physical environment across our locations where all people feel welcomed and included. We create and foster policies and procedures that ensure safety for all.

Non-Retaliation. There are clear and safe processes for any member of the Prevention Links community to report harms, give feedback, or share experiences without fear that they will be treated differently as a result.

Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion means that our policies will be reviewed and revised on an ongoing basis. We welcome participation and feedback from our staff and community at all times. All feedback will undergo a review and response process on a monthly basis by the DEI Committee.
