CRANFORD, NJ – Prevention Links, a leader in substance use prevention and recovery support within Union County, is proud to announce the 26th annual Red Ribbon Day, to be held on October 12, 2024, at Nomahegan Park, Cranford, NJ. This year’s event aims to unite the community through awareness, support, and celebration, highlighting the continued need for proactive approaches to substance use prevention and recovery services.
Red Ribbon Day will feature a range of activities designed to engage all ages, including a drug prevention walk, resource fair, interactive games, and a family fun festival with carnival games, a food truck, arts & crafts, bake sale, face painting, and more. This event not only raises awareness about the crucial issues of drug use prevention and recovery but also serves as a beacon of hope and support for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders.
Morgan Thompson, CEO of Prevention Links, emphasizes the impact of community involvement in these efforts. “Red Ribbon Day is a testament to the power of community action and the positive changes that can emerge when we stand together,” said Thompson. “Each year, as we gather to mark this day, we renew our commitment to fostering a safe, healthy, and more supportive future. It’s more than an event—it’s a movement towards healing, understanding, and enduring support.”
This year’s Red Ribbon Day also coincides with the launch of several new initiatives by Prevention Links, aimed at enhancing the accessibility of prevention and recovery resources across Union County, including their new community center in Plainfield. “Our focus is not only to celebrate recovery but also to expand the reach of our services to ensure that no one in need of support feels left behind,” Thompson added.
The community is invited to join hands with Prevention Links at Red Ribbon Day, where the collective spirit of advocacy, support, and resilience will be on full display. To learn more about the event, participate, or donate to their fundraiser, please visit https://preventionlinks.org/redribbon
