Welcome back to the NJ4S Union Hub series, where we center conversations that promote equity, dignity, and mental wellness for all young people and families.

In this session, “Mental Health is a Human Right,” presenter Brianah Bryant explores why mental wellness must be treated not as a luxury or an afterthought, but as a fundamental right that every person deserves access to.

Brianah unpacks the social, cultural, and systemic barriers that prevent many individuals—especially youth—from receiving the care and support they need. She also highlights what it means to build compassionate environments where mental health is understood, respected, and prioritized. This session calls for a community-wide shift toward advocacy, awareness, and action.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Why Mental Health is a Human Right: Understanding access, equity, and the responsibility we all share
  • Breaking Barriers: How stigma, inequality, and lack of resources impact youth
  • Building Supportive Systems: What schools, families, and communities can do to promote mental wellness
