FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER
The Family Support Center offers support, education, resources, and advocacy for those who have a loved one struggling with addiction. Our goal is to provide compassionate support, empowering family members and friends to improve their quality of life and gain the skills necessary in coping with their loved one’s substance use.
Our Family Support Coordinator is trained in the Community Reinforcement Approach and Family Training (CRAFT) model which teaches self-care and non-confrontational strategies to motivate their loved one to seek recovery.
The CRAFT Model teaches family members and friends evidence-based strategies to help support their loved one toward changing their behaviors. CRAFT works to change the way families interact with their loved one to accomplish moving your loved one toward treatment, reducing your loved one’s substance use and improving the lives of impacted family members and friends.
CRAFT teaches impacted loved ones multiple skills including self-care, positive communication strategies, positive reinforcement skills, problem solving, understanding a loved one’s triggers to use substances and more.
Please see and share our flyer for our free weekly CRAFT support group!
Services for Union, Middlesex, and Monmouth County include peer family support in person and by phone, support and education on navigating the treatment systems, understanding how to support a loved one’s recovery, and a weekly support group meeting.
Each county in New Jersey offers such family support services, please reach out to us to be linked with your county’s Family Support Coordinator!
