Life Skills

The Botvin LifeSkills Training Middle School program is a groundbreaking substance misuse and violence prevention program based on more than 35 years of rigorous scientific research. Proven to be the most effective evidence-based program used in schools today, LifeSkills Training is comprehensive, dynamic, and developmentally designed to promote positive youth development. In addition to helping kids resist drug, alcohol, and tobacco use, the LifeSkills Training Middle School program also effectively supports the reduction of violence and other high-risk behaviors

We’re Not Buying It! 2.0 (WNBI 2.0)

This is a media literacy program targeting middle school-aged youth in sixth through eighth grades that aims to prevent or delay the onset of alcohol, marijuana, and non-medical prescription drug use, and to prevent bullying. Youth learn how to deconstruct media messages that promote or glamorize substance use. With a deeper understanding of the marketing directed toward them, students are better able to resist messages and to make healthy decisions.

The curriculum is a six-lesson program. Each 40-minute lesson incorporates activities targeting between two and three learning styles—visual, aural, verbal, logical, social, and solitary—to address the knowledge and skills necessary for youth to reject unhealthy substance use and bullying behaviors.

Too Good for Drugs

Too Good for Drugs is a universal K-12 prevention education program designed to mitigate the risk factors and enhance protective factors related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) use. The lessons introduce and develop social and emotional skills for making healthy choices, building positive friendships, developing self-efficacy, communicating effectively, and resisting peer pressure and influence.
